Originally formed in 1969, the orginal band split in 1970, before being re-born
through original vocalist Al
Atkins. He eventually left before the band recorded their first album in 1974
with new vocalist Rob Halford. But it was band's 2nd album 'Sad Wings of Destiny'
that brought them to the attention of most of rock world. They have since become
one the UK's biggest hard rock bands, even surviving Rob Halford's departure in
the 90's.
