Q-TIPS: The Venue, London 1980
Before finding fame as a solo artist, Paul Young fronted a band called Q-Tips.
Pre-dating the Commitments by some years, they gained a reputation as a great
live act, mixing in soul standards with many self-written songs. Their only studio
album, the self-titled Q-Tips, failed to capture the atmosphere of their live
gigs, and the live album that followed it came too late to stop the band splitting
up, with only keyboardist Ian Kew joining Paul Young's backing band on his solo
career.
